Many BRiNG events occur along the Blue River Parkway through a partnership with Jackson County Parks + Rec. Spanning over 2,000 acres from Swope Park to the Jackson County line, the Parkway (nested within the larger Greenway) offers miles of multi-use trails, natural areas, and recreation opportunities showcasing the beauty of the Blue River corridor.
Highlighted Sites
Heartland Overlook Preserve (HOP): HCA-owned 40-acre woodland with a 2.2 miles of unpaved hiking and mountain biking trail that connects into adjacent parkway trails. HCA’s main site for volunteer workdays and BRiNG events.
Brown Recreation Area Boat Ramp: Jackson County owned boat ramp on the Blue River. Boating permit not required.
Minor Park: Kansas City owned park featuring the historic Old Red Bridge, Blue River access, and paved and unpaved trails connecting into the Jackson County owned Blue River Parkway.
Alex George Wetland: Jackson County owned scenic area for fishing, birding, hiking (paved trails), and picnics.
Eddy Ballentine Trail: Jackson County owned 1.4 mile unpaved trail along the Blue River that connects to Blue River Glades Natural Area
